How Justice Diana Mochache used her position as a magistrate to fight Ills like Gender based violence among others in the society

Before she was promoted to be a High Court Judge, Justice Diana Mochache used her position as a magistrate to reduce gender based violence, sexual violence and exploitation related skirmishes and tried her best to bring sanity in the society.

By then she was the Head of Kawaha Law courts, a court that came from the grassto the grace.

By the time she left the station, it had already attracted attention throughout the country especially in the high profile cases it handled.

According to lawyers who spoke to our reporter, the Judge will always be remembered on how she fought for the rights of the Sexual , Gender Based Violence victims and at the same time used her skills to fight Sexual violence cases like rape and defilements.

” While at Kahawa Law Courts, Justice Diana Mochache used her skills to make sure that all the sexual and gender based related cases were well heard and determined on time, she made sure that in cases such as defilements, rape and GBV related, victims were protected and testified on time ,” said Moses Munoko , an advocate of the high court.

Munoko added that Mochache made sure Kahawa law courts was a corrupt free zone hence ensuring that justice was served for all.

Other Lawyers also remembered her on how she handled them with respects.

While attending a function that brought together GBV victims at the Kibera courts some months back, Judge Mochache urged magistrates and other legal experts to handle GBV related cases with care .

” In Kahawa Law courts, we used to handle such cases with care and on time, I had placed some key rules to be abided by in such cases and which explained the manner on how the victims were to on testify in court and the issues to do with bond terms,” she said.

She also highlighted what the legal fraternity needs to do to address gender based and sexual violence related cases adding that more efforts needed to be placed in the saud cases.
The Judge has also in the past urged the Media to report such cases with care without exposing the victims among other issues.
