Activist moves to court, files a petition for the removal of KURA) Director-General Silas Kinoti over corruption, embezzlement of Funds

An activist has initiated legal proceedings, filing a petition at the Milimani High Court, to demand the removal of Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Director-General Silas Kinoti.

The petition alleges corruption and procurement irregularities totaling millions of shillings in road projects nationwide.

“Dismas Ayacko, the petitioner, aims to oust Kinoti from office and initiate a thorough probe into alleged corruption and incompetence within the state agency,” said the activist.

Ayacko accuses Kinoti of awarding tenders to associates, paying for incomplete projects, and committing various illegalities.

“The activist argues that Kinoti’s continued tenure at KURA is against the public interest due to his involvement in corrupt dealings,” Ayacko’s statement reads.

Ayacko seeks a court order permanently barring Kinoti from managing KURA and compelling the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the DG promptly.

Additionally, Ayacko urges Kinoti to step aside to ensure impartial investigations and calls for scrutiny into the allocation of multi-billion road tenders, where significant funds remain unaccounted for despite incomplete projects.
