Retaired senior chief in Eldoret town William Sang has been charged with defiling a school girl on boxing day last December.
The chief appeared before senior resident magistrate Christine Menya and denied two counts of defilement.
He allegedly committed the offense at Kaptagat area of Kerio Valley within Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Sang who is also a retired GSU officer and is aged 68 years was released on a bond of sh 200,000 with a similar surerity.
Menya ordered that the case be mentioned on February 6th for a pre-trial conference.
At the same time the magistrate expressed surprise following an increase in cases in which many youth had been charged with threatening to kill their mothers in the region.
She asked the prosecution to find out why there had been an increase in such cases.
