Basketball:Preparations towards the 4th Edition PIPSSA competition intensifies
Basketball:Preparations towards the 4th Edition PIPSSA Nationals Swimming Championship and Soccer, Basketball and Skating Tournaments are in top gear with the committee already instituted having inspected the fields and declared them fit to host the much anticipated youth event scheduled between 3rd – 5th March, 2023 at St. Christopher’s School Nanyuki.
The games are expected to bring in at least 1,000 participants into Nanyuki City. Already, the committee has identified the venues and facilities that will offer accommodation to the participants. Bernard Mathu, Director St. Christopher’s School Nanyuki and former Deputy Principal Alliance Boys confirmed that his school is more than ready to host the sporting event with a committee already constituted to steer preparations and deliver a successful event.
Mr. Mathu reiterated that the games provide learners with an opportunity to interact and compete in the spirit of ‘friendly rivalry’ aside from building cohesion, teamwork, talent development, and benchmarking by education and sports stakeholders.
Omar Ali Omari aka Coach 001, HoD Sports who also doubles as St. Christopher’s School Nanyuki Deputy Principal encouraged schools and counties to consider participating in the upcoming event in order to expand the scope of Kenya citing the importance of sports in the general wellbeing, regional integration, promotion of peace and unity among others.
H. E Joshua Irungu, Governor Laikipia is expected to be the Chief Guest who will officially open the games on Friday 3rd March, 2023. George Wachiuri, CEO Optiven Real Estate is also expected to grace the event and his company has been instrumental in supporting PIPSSA Events.
