Aga Khan Academy shines in Kenya Swimming Federation Kiambu County Minnows Swimming Championship

Aga Khan Academy stole the show during the Kenya Swimming Federation Kiambu County Minnows Swimming Championship held at Braeburn Imani International School, Thika at the weekend. The Aga Khan Academy won the overall team Trophy while Super Marlins Swim Club and Potterhouse School Runda won 1st runners up and 2nd runners up respectively.

The gala attracted about 300 swimmers from Kiambu and environs and among the notable teams that fielded their swimmers included Braeburn, West Ridge School, Elign Christian School, Brookhill School etc.

Joseph Ndungu – Coach West Ridge School and KSF Kiambu Executive Committee Member confirmed that Kiambu County will be sending about 100 swimmers to Kampala Invitational Swimming Championship in Uganda in April. Ndungu observed that he was encourage by the performance in the minnows and determination of swimmers to post best personal times. He said that his team will also be participating in the upcoming Mt. Kenya Bloc Swimming Championship scheduled for Saturday 1st April, 2023 which will also be used to select swimmers for both Kampala and Dubai Swimming meets.

He added that plans are underway to have more public schools engaged in the sport. However, he complained most of public schools tend to concentrate much on examinations and academic scores at the expense of physical growth and overall health of the learners.
