A woman accused of defrauding a city businessman a sum of Sh630,000 on the ground that she was in apposition to sell him household goods like Fridges, guard protectors, three 75 inches TV sets, one 82 inches TV set, one apple watch and an iPhone has been charged in court.
Arbaaz qureshi who is among the complaints appeared in court physically.
Meera Narendra Thakrar was charged before Kibera senior principal magistrate Esther Boke but however the prosecution in coordination with police constable Edna Mosoti objected her release on bond.
The detective told the court that the accused person be detained at the Langata police station for 14more days to allow the police complete their investigations because more people have turned up and have recorded more complaints against her.
“ We need 14 days to complete out investigations so far, nine new OB numbers have been registered at Parklands police station where she is accused of fraud,” she told the court.
She told the court that the accused person was arrested via a warrant of arrest was obtaining and issued to the parklands police station.
“ The warrant of arrest was issued by the court vide case number161/192/2022 court file number NO.E2033/2022 and 161/74/2022 CF E1035/2022 since there was interference to her arrest prompting the police to seek court assistance by applying a warrant of arrest.
In the chargesheet before the court, the woman allegedly defrauded businessman Sahi Rajeshwar Harbans Bai the said items.
She however denied the charges and through her lawyer urged the court to release her on a cash bail with it declines.
She has bee remanded at Langata women’s prisons and the matter will be mentioned on January 18 where she may face new criminal charges.
