Ruto wants to be life president like Museveni – Oburu Oginga

Siaya senator Oburu Oginga on Monday expressed concerns that President William Ruto is allegedly borrowing a dictatorship script from Uganda’s longest serving President Yoweri Museveni.

Oburu said that the tactic of buying opposition MPs, which he claimed Ruto has adopted, is a tactic of Museveni.

“Ruto is busy buying MPs of Jubilee party and now targeting ODM members yet he says he wants to be oversighted by a strong opposition.

The senator was speaking against the backdrop of eight ODM lawmakers who visited Ruto at State House last week.

The elder brother of ODM leader Raila Odinga, claimed that the actions of the president tell a story of an individual who wants to rule forever.

“This is a way of consolidating power in the hands of an individual and making sure that he creates dictatorship the type of (President Yoweri) Museveni of Uganda so that he becomes a life president and Kenya becomes a one party state like in Uganda,” stated Oburu.

The legislator noted that in Uganda the Opposition is only existing in name but in practice they have been subdued.

Oburu spoke during the expulsion of Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda as the ODM branch secretary on Monday.

He said that, Ochanda, had fallen victim of Ruto’s antics.

Ochanda and seven others from the ODM visited the house on the hill last week, sparking contemptuous reactions in their backyards.
