Kisii Governor Simba Arati asks Kindiki to probe Azimio, Kenya Kwanza youth scuffles

Kisii Governor Simba Arati condemned the Saturday skirmishes pitying two political factions that occurred at the County capital streets.

At least ten youth were injured during the violent confrontations between the Pro-Azimio and Pro-Kenya Kwanza youth.

Many of those who sustained critical injuries were from Pro Azimio.

They were overpowered after their attempts to foil the protests by UDA youth flopped.

The skirmishes have since been condemned by Azimio leader Raila Odinga during the Kisumu rally.

The ODM youth had their offices located inside the Kisii Country Assembly precincts overrun and vandalized during the running battles. .

One officer was injured in the back with a stone during the incident.

Governor Arati paid a night visit on the the injured at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where he condemned the incident.

He, however, fingered Fred Nunda, a Kenya Kwanza political activist, for leading the attacks on the Azimio group and asked security agencies to arrest him .

Nunda, separately denied the charge and instead accused the Azimio faction of engaging them during a peaceful protest.

Nunda said they had called the demonstrations toi castigate ODM leader Raila Odinga and his brigade for ostensibly making disparaging remarks against former Governor James Ongwae after he ditched his party.

Odinga and Siaya Governor James Orengo who addressed a People Baraza rally on Friday at Gusii Stadium had chided Ongwae that his decision to abandon ODM was cash driven.

Saturday night, Arati said he has already asked Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to probe the street scuffles and bring the culprits to book.

“I have heard that the person leading the protests and attacks has several arrest warrants hanging on his head already. I want to know on whose bidding is he doing all these,” stated Arati.

He said he was optimistic Kindiki was up to the task to end the attacks between the two political factions.

” I am sure if the government has committed banditry in the lawless Pokot regions it can do the same here, “the County boss implored.

Arati sensationally claimed that the Pro Kenya Kwanza youth were protected by the police as they orchestrated the mayhem.

If the government will not take action, said Arati, then he will personally take charge and ensure the lives of the residents and their property are protected.

” As a governor i will do everything in my power to ensure such madness is addressed once and for all,” Arati told journalists.

Dr Marita Atebe, the lead doctor treating the patients said one of the ten injured in the clashes and may require to be transfered depending on the response by Sunday

” We are undertaking assessment and if it warrants that he is transferred for specialized treatment we shall make proper arrangements,” said Marita.
