Opposition leader Raila Odinga has termed as disrespectful Kenya Kwanza’s inclusion of Eldas MP Adan Kaynan in their bipartisan team.
Speaking on Sunday while addressing Azimio supporters at the Kamukunji grounds, Raila said Kaynan is a member of the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
“Kaynan was elected to Parliament through the Jubilee party which is under Azimio. President William Ruto should let our people be, leave our people alone,” he said.
The Azimio wrote to Kenya Kwanza last week asking that Kaynan be replaced.
Kaynan was named among six others to represent the government in negotiations with the Opposition.
The seven-member team comprises four Members of the National Assembly and three Senators.
The team will spearhead the bipartisan talks with their counterparts in the Azimio camp.
Kenya Kwanza’s team comprises Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who is the leader of the delegation, George Murugara (Tharaka MP), Esther Okenyuri (Nominated Senator) and Mwangi Mutuse (MP Kibwezi West).
Others are Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta Woman Rep) and Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei.
The Azimio side is led by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Nairobi Senator and ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua.
Others are David P’Kosing (Pokot South MP), Millie Odhiambo (Suba North MP) and Amina Mnyanzi (Malindi MP).
The team was picked during the Azimio la Umoja parliamentary group meeting in Machakos County.
The President said that he is willing to engage the opposition on a bi-partisan approach to find solutions on the constitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Azimio also wants the Kenya Kwanza government to lower the cost of living, open IEBC servers for forensic analysis of the poll results, respect of democracy and equal representation of all communities in government
