Paul Chebor elected as Rongai new MP as Baraza leads Malala


Former Solai Member if County Assembly, Paul Chebor is the new Rongai MP.

Chebor alias Mamba has risen from a humble son of a peasant farmer from a remote village to beat the son of Former President, the late Daniel Moi.
The United Democratic Alliance party candidate garnered 27,021 votes in the postponed MP election against the incumbent, Raymond Moi’s 14,715 votes.
Former area MP, Luka Kigen came a distant third with 593 votes.
Moi was seeking a third term on a Kanu ticket and was confident of a win only to be unseated by the Chebor.
Speaking after being declared the Rongai MP-elect at Nakuru Technical Training College, Chebor pledged to work with his competitors for the betterment of the people of Rongai.
He thanked the electorate for trusting him with the leadership role and pledged to maintain peace .
The area MP elections were cancelled on August 9 over alleged mixup of ballot papers.
Yesterday’s election was marred by low voter turn out as only 5p percent of the registered voters came out to vote.
Rongai has 84,625 registered voters.
